Understanding the repair process
Depending on the damage, collision repair can be a confusing and extensive process. Mid-County Collision follows strictly enforced procedures to maintain the high standards that Massapequa and Long Island have come to expect of us. Each repair, whether big or small, is followed by a Quality Control Advisor who will assure your car is on its way to looking brand new again.
Getting back into your driver’s seat in 10 steps
- Estimate: The very first step is to contact us for your FREE estimate! Your vehicle will be inspected thoroughly by our auto body experts along with one of our computerized estimating systems, letting us know what’s wrong with your car and a cost estimate. Often times, however, there is hidden damage that cannot be seen until the car is disassembled in step three.
- Insurance approval: The insurance company will need to approve the repairs and cost. They will review your FREE estimate from us then negotiate the price and procedures outlined in the estimate. Avoid the headache of dealing with insurance companies—we will send the paperwork over to your insurance agency for you! Once this is completed, your vehicle will begin its physical repairs.
- Disassembly: Your car is disassembled in order to begin the repair process. Oftentimes disassembly allows hidden damages to be found. Extra damages may require scheduling an insurance re-inspection.
- Order parts: After gaining insurance approval and taking apart your vehicle, we will order the necessary parts to fix your damage. The total replacement of damaged parts cannot begin until Mid-County Collision receives all of the parts in order to assure the quality repair of your vehicle.
- Structure repair: During this step, the ordered parts are installed and fit to your vehicle. Your car is also hooked up to a computerized measuring system to analyze the frame, assuring the safety of your vehicle and quality of our work.
- Body repair: After repairing the structure, the body is touched up. Your car begins to look a little more what you’re used to—our body repair department replaces and aligns the exterior panels and metal finishing.
- Paint: Repainting your car is one of the most important steps to getting your car looking brand new again. We will use our computerized paint mixing system to ensure your car is getting an exact matching color with our eco-friendly waterborne paint. Our paint experts will take extra care to get your paint primed and sealed so that the final top color and clear coats are applied perfectly for the best shine.
- Reassembly: After the car is painted, primed, and sealed, the final moldings and detail pieces are placed back onto the vehicle. We will also check your vehicle's systems in this step to make sure every issue has been resolved and that your car is running normally again.
- Detailing: When your car is back to its original condition, our detailing experts will go over it from the inside-out. Both your interior and exterior will be cleaned, including upholstery cleaning and waxing. We will also go through one more inspection to assure your car is in the best condition. - Completion: And lastly, your car is ready for you to take the wheel! After you arrive to pick up your vehicle, we will go over the repairs one more time as well as discuss the bill and finalize paperwork. You then finally get to drive off with your like-new vehicle!
